Select Obstructive Sleep Apnoea Service
The CPAP machine
The CPAP machine is a small piece of equipment that sits on your bedside table, and works by blowing pressurised room air into the airway (via a mask) to stop it from narrowing or closing during sleep.
Most CPAP machines adjust the pressure while you are asleep to treat your OSA/OSAHS.
Baywater Healthcare will supply a CPAP machine as requested by your clinician if we provide the service for your local hospital.
CPAP masks
You will need to wear a mask connected to the CPAP machine. There are many different types and styles of masks. Your clinician will ask you some questions to determine which type of mask will be suitable for you, depending on whether you breathe through your nose or mouth. You will be measured up and fitted with the mask to make sure it is comfortable for you to use. If you have been referred to Baywater Healthcare, we will do this on behalf of your clinician.
