Mental Health Wellbeing

1st February 2023

Statistics show that 1 in 6 people in the United Kingdom will experience a mental health problem this year. While it is natural to feel low sometimes, we must take care of our mental health.

There are several methods to assist in managing mental health:

Keep Active

It is recommended that we try to move around for at least 20 minutes per day, or as long as you feel able to if 20 minutes is too long. Being active is about spending less time in your seat (if possible) and more time moving around.

Eat Healthy, regular meals and stay hydrated

A healthy diet includes foods that provide sources of protein and calcium, fruit, and vegetables, as well as regular hydration. Men should have around 2500 calories per day, and women around 2000 calories per day.

Sleep

We should aim for at least 7 hours of sleep per night. To get a good night of sleep, we should avoid drinking caffeine four hours before bed and avoid using electrical devices such as your phone and laptop 1 hour before bed.

Stay connected

Whether you try to call two people each day, join an online support group, or schedule a coffee date with your friends, there are many ways to stay connected.

Consider joining Clic-uk.org – Clic is an online community that aims to tackle loneliness. The platform provides a safe and welcoming environment where 8,000+ users can support each other’s mental health through friendly chats and helpful resources.

Learn something new

Read or watch online tutorials, or join a new class. Pursue a hobby or something you have always wanted to do.
