Home Oxygen Therapy Patient Assistance Schemes

9th July 2026

As an oxygen user, there are several schemes that you could be entitled to use to support your health and safety. In this article, we have detailed some of the popular schemes to consider taking advantage of.

Blue Badge Scheme

A blue badge enables you to park closer to your destination and in spaces other people can’t, such as disabled spaces and blue badge-specific spaces. This reduces the distance you must walk. When parking in one of these spaces, you must leave your blue badge in your vehicle’s windscreen so it is visible. The price of a blue badge varies by location, but the maximum you can be charged is £10 in the UK and free in Wales. For more information about the Blue Badge Scheme, please visit: www.gov.uk/transport/blue-badge

MyHailo Petrol Station Key Fob

The ‘MyHailo’ key fob offers a safe solution for you to refuel your vehicle. At a petrol station, pressing the button on the fob alerts staff that you need assistance. Pressing the button will light a beacon in the petrol station window. A MyHailo key fob costs £19.95. To read further about this scheme, visit: www.myhailo.co.uk

Radar Keys

A radar key offers independent access to locked public toilets around the country. With National Key Scheme locks, toilets can be unlocked using a radar key. There are now over 10,000 toilets fitted with locks by the National Key Scheme. These can commonly be found in shopping centres, pubs, cafes, department stores and bus & train stations. The Radar Keys cost £5.00. To find out more about Radar Keys, please visit: shop.disabilityrightsuk.org/products/radar-key
