Baywater Healthcare employee set to represent his nation at a major sporting event

3rd June 2026

One of our very own Baywater Healthcare employees has secured a place at the 2026 European Sprint Distance Duathlon Championships, set to take place in Banyoles, Spain, on the 11th July 2026, marking a major milestone in a journey that began with humble beginnings at community fitness events.

Jordan, our Scheduling Manager, will compete against athletes from across Europe in the prestigious event, representing his age group on an international stage. The sprint-distance duathlon consists of a 10km run, followed by a 38km cycle, and finishes with a 5km run. An intense, fast-paced format that tests both speed and endurance from start to finish.

For Jordan, the achievement represents the culmination of five years of steady progression. Starting out with local park runs and grassroots triathlons, he gradually built experience and fitness, eventually completing a full-distance Ironman and securing wins at local races. Qualifying for a European Championship had long been a personal ambition.

“This has been a goal of mine for several years,” Jordan said. “To go from local events to competing on a European stage feels incredibly rewarding. Ultimately, I’d love to see how far I can go—maybe even aim for a European title one day.”

Preparation for the championship is already underway, with a demanding training schedule that balances structured running and cycling sessions alongside full-time work, apprenticeship studies, and family commitments. Early mornings, late nights, and long weekend sessions have become the norm.

“It’s a big commitment, but I’m fortunate to have a very supportive wife, which makes a huge difference,” he added.

Jordan says the motivation behind the challenge is rooted in a desire to push personal limits. Competing at this level provides an opportunity to test himself against some of Europe’s best, while proudly representing both his age group and his employer.

Baywater Healthcare are delighted to support Jordan in his journey. We have assisted Jordan with his tri suit and flights, and will be supporting him every step along the way up to and beyond his race.

“Duathlon can be expensive, so having that support means a lot. It allows me to focus on training and performance.”

With the championship on the horizon, Jordan is now focused on fine-tuning his preparation, ready to take on one of the biggest challenges of his sporting career so far.
