Baywater Healthcare staff go the extra mile (or 26) for Macmillan Cancer Support

12th October 2015

The benchmark was set high in 2014 – but the great news is that together this year we beat last year’s total money raised for Macmillan Cancer Support!  From selling homemade cakes to guesstimating how many sweets were in a jar, Baywater Healthcare’s fantastic staff pulled together and raised a whopping £376.80 for this very worthwhile cause.

On top of this great team effort, some individuals went above and beyond”¦.and a special shout out goes to UK Scheduling Team Leader Jimi Worrall – and his Aunt. Jimi ran the Yorkshire Marathon at the start of the month, finishing in the top third in a time of 4 hours and 31 minutes – a great achievement on only his second marathon.  In the process he raised an additional £555.11 for Macmillan Cancer.  And, keeping it in the family, Jimi’s Aunt contributed one of the cakes for the cake sale – pictured below.  Looks delicious, no wonder her nephew has taken up such an extreme exercise regime!

Macmillan Cancer supports people affected by cancer, aiming to make sure no one faces cancer alone. Cancer can be a lonely place and can have a devastating impact on people’s lives – it affects their work, their relationships, and their finances.  Macmillan Cancer offers information, advice and support, and helps them start to feel more in control again.

The money raised will help Macmillan Cancer  continue to provide essential services to people living with cancer and their families. And Baywater Healthcare will continue to do what it can to increase awareness and funds – plans are already underway to set a new total in 2016.
