Ventilation and Oxygen

As a clinician you will normally advise the patient on how much oxygen is required when using their ventilator machine. A separate attachment known as an oxygen enrichment port will be added into the tubing or onto the front of the ventilator machine.

It is important that the patient always follows safe/best practice when using oxygen. To use ventilation and oxygen, the patient needs to turn the ventilator machine on before adding their oxygen. Then turn the oxygen off before turning off the ventilator machine when finished.

Warning

Please remind the patient that the oxygen setting should not be changed unless they have been advised to do so by their GP or clinician.
